William AARON's life was fairly well documented for that period. He was married three times and two of those marriages are documented in Franklin County, Georgia records. William was a large land owner in Franklin County, Georgia and numerous actions of him buying and selling land are recorded in the deed transactions of the court records of Franklin County, GA.

However, in later years, his fortunes declined, and at the time of his death he was no longer a land owner of record in Franklin County, GA, nor is there any evidence that he had accumulated any amount of cash. It was not necessary to inventory his estate at the time of his death, as no court records have been found directing an inventory of his estate. He was living with a William AARON, not identified, but presumed to be his relative at the time of his death.

If the information is correct on wives #2 and #3, this would make William Aaron a long-lived individual with son James Aaron being born when he was 67 years old.

From the book "The History of Hall County" pg. 174:

In mid-1883, several Klansmen were accused of whipping a group of blacks in Banks County. United States marshals from Gainesville arrested J. M. Neal, James and Caleb Yarbrough and Stacy Linderman in Maysville on the charges. One local paper commented that "We hope they will be able to prove their innocence from such severe charges. On August 11th they appeared before Commissioner Dunlap in Gainesville. They were represented by Howard Thompson and H. W. J. Ham. After a number of delays, the case came up for trail in October. By this time several others had been added to the list of defendants, which now included Jasper Yarbrough, James Yarbrough, Dilmus Yarbrough, Neal Yarbrough, Lovel Streetman, Bold Emory, and E. H. Green. The jury was chosen and consisted of both blacks and whites. It was noted that they were indicted based on a section of the revised statutes relating to protected political expression. They were charged with whipping the blacks for voting for a certain candidate in the congressional race. They were found guilty and placed in the Fulton County jail while their lawyers worked to secure a new trail.

George L. Martin is listed in census data as being born in Virginia. There were a lot of Martins in Virginia in 1840 and it is very difficult to discern which Martin George descends from. More records will have to be found George L. before I determine his father's name. Also, in the 1900 census records of his children James H, Robert C, and son-in-law living with Sarah, George L. (as father) is listed as born in Tennesee. ????
His epitaph reads "Death was the gale through which to life he passed. To feast on joys that will forever last."

Listed marriage date of 13 Jan 1901 is after his dealth, will need to resarch all dates. - Robert Wood, Jr.
