2556	William enlisted as a Private in Company H, 7th Alabama Cavalry on February 15, 1863 at Holly Spring, Alabama. On a muster roll dated June 30 – December 31, 1863 he was reported absent wounded at Dandridge, Tennessee. The date he was wounded was given as December 24, 1863. He lost his right arm as reported in “Maimed Soldiers Record, State Auditor Book I, Page 22”. He later received an artificial arm. William applied for a pension in Cherokee County on April 18, 1885. They were probably born in Virginia \|in the very early 1700'S, and we think WILLIAM was still living in 1770. WILLIAM'S name, along with the name of his \|children, appear in many land transactions, first in Virginia, then just across the state line in and around Granville Co, North Carolina. 2579	[1] Notes for CLYDE SHEATS: Her Voice is Hushed On the 8th inst. little Clyde, the only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Sheats of Bogart passed away. She was sick only a short time and at the quiet hour of midnight when all was hushed and silenced reigned supreme little Clyde was seized with croup and all efforts to save her were vain. She was born October 17, 1893 being at her death one year, eleven months, and nine days old. The Little face, the little voice, the little prattle that filled the heart of father and mother with pride is no more. All of us must have our sorrows, our pains, our disappointments. Mixed with these are many pleasures, many joys and much happiness. Such is the life of everyone. Yet a little while and joy will be unmixed with sorrow, pleasure unmixed with pain, happiness unmixed with disappointment. 2580	[1] Notes for MARTHA FRANCINA LESTER: Martha Francina Lester Sheats is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Winder Georgia. The following is copied from an article pasted in an old Sheats family bible that belonged to J.N. and Salena J. Sheats. It was taken from an early Winder GA newspaper a forerunner of The Winder News. 1903 Death of a Noble Woman Martha Francina Sheats The entire citizens of Winder were saddened last Friday morning when the news went out that Mrs. J. W. Sheats was dead. She was taken seriously ill the day before, and few were aware of this fact, until they learned she was dead. On account of her gentle and lovable character, she was loved by all who knew her. Her death brought gloom and sorrow to many hearts. If it can be said of anyone, they had not a single enemy, it truly can be said of Mrs. Sheats. The husband and three little children have the sincere sympathy of everyone in our city. She was born in 1831, in Oglethorpe County, and lived there until 1847, when she moved to North Georgia. She lived to be 85 years old, retaining full possession of her faculties, and I have often heard her speak of the older members of the family whose names are given in this record." R. F. Patman, a son of John and Sara (Wright) Patman, says, "Lewis Lester married Elizabeth Patman, sister of John W Patman. The Lesters lived in Clarke County, Georgia. They had a large family - John, Andrew, Cordelia, Mary, Lizzie (Phillips) and Seaborn Lester, who was a Baptist preacher." Mrs. Neal Ray answered an advertisement, which Mrs. Estelle Cash Pike had placed in a local paper, asking for information about the Patman and Lester families, Sept. 15, 1932.
