  Died at age 79 years, 1 month, 9 days. ----------------------------- Military Service: Wood, Jasper Newton Dec, 11, 1834—Jan.20, 1914: C.S.A. He has new Military Monument that states service in Co. A, 1st GA. Cavalry. Co. G, 1st GA. Battn., Cavalry. He was a witness for the pension application of T.N. Neal of Habersham Co. Ref.: ''Index to GA. Confederate Pension Files", by Virgil White, 1996. Wood, Sarah Ann [Wilbanks] May 18,1841—-July 23,1923: W/o JasperN. Wood. She filed for widow's pension in Jackson Co., stating he served in Co. E, 16th GA. Battn., Cavalry. Jasper enlisted as a Private in Company G, 13th GA Cavalry (16th Battalion GA Cavalry) on May 14, 1862 in Jefferson, Jackson County, Georgia. He was present or accounted for until surrendered in compliance with the terms of a Military Convention made on April 26, 1865 at Bennett’s House, Durham Station, North Carolina between General Joseph E. Johnston and Major General W. T. Sherman and approved by Lieutenant General U. S. Grant. He was paroled at Augusta, Georgia on May 18, 1865. Source: John T. Nash, 6th great grandson of Capt.
