      Wood, Jesse P.—March 14, 1837—May 10, 1911: C.S.A. Has old style Military Monument. Served in Co. 0,16th GA. Cavalry, C.S.A. Tombstone listing. Broadfoot's "Roster of Confederate Soldiers Index", lists him in the muster rolls of Co. G, and E of the 13th GA. Cavalry. The 13th GA. Cav. was formed out of the 16th.. Jesse P. Wood and Jasper N. Wood are brothers and are also the brothers of Marion P. Wood, C.S.A. buried at the Wood Family Cemetery in District #255.

      Jesse enlisted as a 3rd Sergeant in Company G, 13th GA Cavalry (16th Battalion GA Cavalry) on May 14, 1862 in Jefferson, Jackson County, Georgia. He was promoted to Sergeant on an undisclosed date and was captured at Knoxville, Tennessee on September 22, 1863. He was sent to Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky and was forwarded to Camp Morton yankee prison, Indianapolis, Indiana on October 13, 1863. He was transferred to Fort Delaware yankee prison, Delaware on March 19, 1864. He was exchanged on March 7, 1865 and was surrendered in compliance with the terms of a Military Convention made on April 26, 1865 at Bennett’s House, Durham Station, North Carolina between General Joseph E. Johnston and Major General W. T. Sherman and approved by Lieutenant General U. S. Grant. He was paroled at Augusta, Georgia on May 18, 1865. Source: John T. Nash, 6th great grandson of Capt.
