According to a Betty McKenzies 'notes, "Mary Ann Cooper was listed on the 1870 census as 6 yrs. old Sara could not read or write and believed the birth date on Mary Ann's cemetery stone is incorrect. The Robinson (Roberson) family remebers Sarah telling that John P. was home on leave (from CSA) when Mary Ann was conceived.??
The Cooper family remained friends with Sarah Ann, and helped her after Joh P.'s death. Mary Cooper, Sarah's mother-in-law, was a witness when Sarah applied for a widow's pension. Sarah applied in Floyd Co, GA where she lived near the William Cooper family.
The Harris family Bible list Sarah's birthdate as May 1837 and her stone read 1840.
In the 1870 Census, Chattoga Co, Dirt Town District, Sarah and daughter, Mary were living on the Dunwoody farm. Nellie Mae Shaw West remembers when her grandmother died. Nellie was about nine years old and was with her when she died. Sarah had a hole in her hand that had to be dressed every day. Sarah lived in a log house near the Shaw family. She, also, remembers Sarah talking about the Civil War. And where she killed a hog, dressed the meat herself, dug a hole in the soil and hid the meat. When the Union Soldiers came by they did not find the meat.
1880 Census; Sarah and Mary cooper, William James and Mary Price Cooper were living th the Haywood District of Chattooga Co, GA.
Sarah died in the spring of 1915 and she is burjed in the Shaw Cemetery, Walker Co, GA.

Sarah Ann Harris married 1854 John P. COOPER b. 1832 TN d. 25 Aug 1863 Morris Island, SC son of William COOPER and Mary FAULKNER
Notes for John P. COOPER:
According to a Betty McKenzies' notes, "John P. Cooper was a farmer and a minister. His son was a Primitive Baptist minister and believed his father was, also, a Primitive Baptist.
Joh P. Cooper's Bible he carried during the Civil War is in the possesion of Betty Love McKenzie, his great granddaughter. John P. Cooper was mustered into the service of the Confederate States Army on the 31 day of Aug. 1861, by Captain William Bacon. He was a Private in Co. C, 23rd GA Reg. Floyd Springs Guards. He had served with the regiment in VA for almost two years. He was killed in battle on Aug. 21, 1863, Battery Wagner (Morris Island) South Carolina.

Fact 2: 04 Mar 1862, Listed as private, died in TN in 1862.
Fact 3: Lived near Rome, GA

According to a Betty McKenzies' notes, "William James "Billy" was a Primitive Baptist minister and farmer. He served many churches in the Rome area. He was pastor of Pleasant Hill Church for more than forty years. He, also, served Midway Church in Armuchee, GA. Billy and Mary were early members of Emmanus Primitive Baptist in Dirt Town District of Chattooga Co. GA...
The family lived in Haywood Valley District of Chattooga Co, Floyd Springs District of Floyd Co. and Armuchee GA. Billy had a small farm there.
Billy is bured in the Beech Creek Cemetery, Hwy. 20, Rome, GA."
