    • Military Service Notes:

      William enlisted as a Private in Company H, 7th Alabama Cavalry on February 15, 1863 at Holly Spring, Alabama. On a muster roll dated June 30 – December 31, 1863 he was reported absent wounded at Dandridge, Tennessee. The date he was wounded was given as December 24, 1863. He lost his right arm as reported in “Maimed Soldiers Record, State Auditor Book I, Page 22”. He later received an artificial arm.

      William applied for a pension in Cherokee County on April 18, 1885.
