    • Ola Mae Smallwood's obituary as found in The Commerce News, Jackson County, Georgia, March 31, 1949:

      Mrs. Smallwood Dies Thursday At Residence Mrs. Ola Mae Smallwood, 39, the wife of Ellis Smallwood, of Commerce, died Thursday at the residence following an illness of several weeks.
      She was born in Commerce on May 21, 1910.Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, from the Madison Street, Baptist Church, the Rev. E. L. Aiken, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Gray Hill Cemetery.
      Little-Ward Funeral Home directors in charge.In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Ellis Smallwood; six daughters, Misses Marie, Eva, Jeanette, Susie Mae, Betty Anne, and Barbara Jean Smallwood, all of Commerce; five brothers, Clyde and J. C. Martin, of Commerce; D. D. Martin, of Duluth; Lonnie Martin, of Concord, N.C., and Howard Martin, of Crawford; and three sisters, Mrs. Luke Standridge, of Commerce; Mrs. Julius Braswell, of Gastonia, SC, and Mrs. Frank Parnell, of Concord, N.C.
