- Note for place of death: Alcorn County, MS came into existence on 15-April-1870 and was formed from parts of Tippiah and Tishomingo counties which both still exist today. Therefore, it is unknown which county might have any records on this individual. In 1917 many vital records were lost in Alcorn County, MS

Isham and Manassa married ca 1819 in Limestone County, Alabama. Their first two children were born in Limestone County, Alabama. They moved to Giles County, Tennessee where additional children were born, including Lewis John Lester in 1831. Residence: NW corner of 1838 Tippah Co, Miss
Note: which is now Benton County and next to Marshall County, Miss and on the Tenn line of Fayette County and Haridman. In 1870 Benton Co. was taken off of Tippah. They lived in Spring Hill 6 miles north of Salem. This is maybe 10 miles from Holly Springs in Marshall County, where JR was on the 1860 census. - Information provided by Riffe Family Site
