Pension Application of Isaac Boring: R1031

Jackson County} SS.
On this sixth day of May eighteen hundred and forty four personally appeared before the
Inferior Court of Jackson County Georgia, Phebe Boring a resident of the County of Jackson state
of Georgia aged Eighty one years the 19 of September last p th ast, who being first duly sworn
according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit
of the provision made by the third section of the act of Congress, passed July 4th 1836:- That
she is the widow of Isaac Boring who was a private in the Revolutionary army and served a six
month’s Tour under Capt. George Oldham of North Carolina, that her husband resided in
Caswell County North Carolina when he was drafted and joined the Army at Hillsborough N.C.
about the first of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty, marched to South Carolina and
was engaged in the battle at Camden when General [Horatio] Gates was defeated [16 Aug 1780]
and continued in the service till November 1780 - when he was discharged some where in South
Carolina and that she has no other written or documentary evidence in support of her husband’s
claim that her husband’s discharge under the hand of Capt. Oldham.
She further declares that she was married to the said Isaac Boring on the seventh day of
March seventeen hundred and Eighty; that her husband, the aforesaid Isaac Boring died on the
18th day of May (1831) eighteen hundred & thirty one; and that she has remained a widow ever
since that period, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed.

NOTE: This application includes an original family record showing the date of marriage of Isaac
Boring and Phebe Browning, the dates of birth of Isaac Browning (7 March 1762) and Phebe
Browning (19 Sep 1762), and the births of their children.
