      JAMES O WOOD entered the confederate service at the commencement of the war, enlisting in Marlow's Command, and fought during the war in the Army of North Virginia.

      James enlisted as a Private in Company G, 16th Battalion Georgia Cavalry at Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia on February 22, 1862. After having been increased to 10 companies, the 16th Battalion had its designation changed to the 13th Regiment Georgia Cavalry. It was led by Captain W. L. Marler and saw action in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. James was present for a pay muster dated April 30, 1863. No further records. Source: John T. Nash
