  • Notes
    • was born in 1760 in Scotland. He died before 1831 in Randolph Co. N.C.. Was appointed Lieutenant of the Court of the Militia in Randolph Co., N.C., on September 16, 1801. While on a trip to Alabama or Gerogia (perhaps to visit his twin sons..before 1831), he died or was killed. the administrator of his estate in Randolph County, N.C. was Ransom Harris. His father-in-Law, William Wood, fought in the Revolutionary War. When William Wood died and his estate was being settled, a search for John jeremiah Collier was fruitless in 1831 and the fact was entered in the records that he had died or was killed while leading his troops on a trip to Alabama at some pervious time. All the brothers (except William who was killed in 1820) went from Randolph County, N.C. to Gerogia, some moving finally to Alabama, shere they all lived until they died. thomas Collier must have had property in Moore County, N.C., ( to the south of Randolph County) since that is where his son, Jesse Wilburn, was born in 1828. These early Colliers were all Methodists. He was married to Sarah Ann Wood in 1781.
