Lester L. Wood, 79, of Commerce, a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, died Monday, October 13, 2003, at his residence.
Born in Banks County on August 16, 1924, Mr. Wood was a son of the late Lester Paul and Allie Lee Burroughs Wood.
He was retired from the United States Army and was also a retired Civil Engineer. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and the VFW.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Verlin Reece officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Theodelinde Emma Weiss Wood, Commerce; one daughter, Linda Strickland, Commerce; six brothers, Dink Wood, John Wood and Jimmy Wood, all of Commerce, Harold Wood, Hollywood, Ralph Wood, Clarkesville, and Teddy Wood, Conyers; three sisters, Eunice Ann Banks, Commerce, Brenda Welch, Marietta, and Mary Sue Wood, Lavonia; and two grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
