    • Death place: (Med Service)

[rdwjr] I assume that his death in 1943 is connected to WWII. I have no idea what is meant by med service. It could mean medical servie or Mediterranean Sea Service. It is something that will require more investigation.

Did find in an article published by the Athens-Banner Herald newspaper dated May 29, 2005 Titled "Memorial Day '05: Our Fallen - A roll call of Northeast Georgia veterans who lost their lives in foreign wars since World War I the name Regis A Borders listed as a Tech Sgt.

In an email received from Daryl Reed, dated 30-Jan-2009 this information was provided:

Description: I found some information about Regis Borders while I was looking for info on my dad's WWII service. Regis was killed in action when his plane, Li'l Jughaid, was ditched in the Mediteranean Sea south of Italy. Two other members of the flight crew died, but 8 were saved. The McCoy/Borders Post No. 5279 of the VFW in Commerce, GA was named after him.
