      Note: William Wyley Hendrix was s/o William Hendrix and Charity Wood and
      grandson of William and Sarah Hendrix. William and Sarah were mentioned in
      the notes of Abner Creek Church that Dick Norwood posted. The Wilson and
      Hendrix families have a number of intermarriages over the generations. [bettys family.FTW]

      William Wiley Hendrix, b abt 1821, and died in the Civil War, married Anna Hughes, b abt 1821. She is said to have remarried a Pearson. One of their children was:
      Simeon J. Hendrix b 2 May 1847, d 16 Dec 1919; Married Sallie T. Smith, b 21 Apr 1849, d Oct 1918 bur Abners Creek, dau of Samuel G. Smith & Elizabeth A. Martha Wood, dau of Daniel. - From a book written by Brent Holcomb of newspaper articles from the Greenville paper articles between 1826-1863.

      On January 10, 1862 William was appointed as Captain of Company C, 22nd South Carolina Infantry. On May 5, 1862 he was dropped from the company. He then enlisted as a Private in the same company and regiment on September 8, 1863 at Columbia, South Carolina. He was captured near Petersburg, Virginia on July 30, 1864 and imprisoned at Point Lookout yankee prison, Maryland on August 5, 1864. He was transferred to Elmira yankee prison, Elmira, New York on August 8, 1864. He was transferred back to Point Lookout on October 18, 1865 for exchange but died at Point Lookout on October 27, 1864 of unknown causes. -- Source: John T. Nash
