Daniel enlisted in Company C, 22nd South Carolina Infantry on January 10, 1862 and was mustered in as 2nd Lieutenant. He was “dropped” as 2nd Lieutenant on March 3, 1863. He enlisted again as a Private on March 9, 1863 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was in the Brigade Infirmary with an unknown complaint in November – December 1864. He was captured at Petersburg, Virginia on April 3, 1865 and was confined at Point Lookout yankee prison, Maryland. He died at Point Lookout on May 2, 1865 of chronic dysentery. He is buried in the mass grave at Point Lookout. Source: John T. Nash, 6th great grandson of Capt. William Wood, Jr.
