Isham enlisted as a Private in Company E, 1st South Carolina Artillery on December 10, 1862 at Fort Sumter. He was present or accounted for until paroled at High Point, North Carolina on April 26, 1865 in accordance with the terms of a Military Convention between General Joseph E.
