George Mardis "Ted" Phillips had a relationship with Lura Otillia Campbell, daughter of Samuel Campbell and Alice Campbell. She was born 30 Sep 1901 in Dora, Walker County, AL and died March 3, 1986 in Dora, Walker County, AL. According to the family, Otillia was living at a boarding house while teaching school at Dilworth. Otillia had the relationship while she was living at the boarding house. The boarding house was owned by Sam and Ina Phillips. She left the baby with Sam and Ina Phillips. Sand and Ina raised her baby. Then he married Lily Montest E. "Testie" Ellafare Elliott on 26 March 1921 in Dora, Walker County, AL.

GEORGE MARTIS (TED) PHILLIPS, 83 of Sumiton died Thursday. He was a Walker County native, and a retired miner. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bell Sumiton Chapel, with burial in McCormack Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Charles M. Phillips, Talladega; six daughters, Mrs Ruby Mitchell, Cullman, Mrs. Georgia Brown, Mrs. Tava Lakey and Mrs. Bette Smith, all of Birmingham, Mrs. Jewel Knight, Warren Michigan, and Mrs. Juanita Black, Sumiton, and two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Maring and Mrs. Siddie Ballenger, both of Sumiton.
