Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. from Poplar Springs Baptist Church for Mrs. Joyce Lester Allan, 71, of Hamlet, N.C. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. from Poplar Springs Baptist Church for Mrs. Joyce Lester Allan, 71, of Hamlet, N.C. Mrs. Allan will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Pastor Corey Wilson, Pastor Ernie Walters and the Rev. Jason Lester will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Allan died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Sand Hills Regional Medical Center, Hamlet, N.C, following a brief illness. Mrs. Allan was born in Clarke County to the late D.P. Lester and Elizabeth Wade Lester. She had lived most of her life in Gainesville prior to moving to Hamlet, N.C., a year and a half ago. Mrs. Allan was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Rockingham, N.C. She was a member and past secretary of The North Georgia Family Campers. Mrs. Allan was the retired office manager for Lester's Body and Paint Shop. Survivors include her husband, Grady R. Allan of Hamlet, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Carole Watson Allan of Gainesville, Donald C. and Emily Allan of Cleveland and Chris Allan of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Mark and Denise Allan Cameron of Gainesville and Karen Renee Allan Walters and Ernie Walters of Hamlet, N.C.; two brothers, Jack Lester of Oakwood and Keith Lester of Chestnut Mountain; one sister, Dolores Lester Chandler of Flowery Branch; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410; or to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 275 Airport Road, Rockingham, N.C. 28379.
