Death of Mr. Lewis Lester. (transcribed)

One of our oldest citizens departed this life _?_ Thursday morning last, at his plantation a few miles from town.  We do not know what _?_ the age of Mr. Lester - upwards of eigh- _?_ perhaps.  The deceased had been, for a _?_ number or years, a resident of this county - where by a long life of industry, sobriety and fair dealing, he had accumulated a large property.  He had been, for many years, before his death, an acceptable member of the Baptist church.  He leaves a large number of dependants and numerous friends to mourn his _?_.

NOTE: the symbol _?_ denotes a word or words that can't be read of deduced from the context due to the image being skewed when originally scanned.  I did not correct any original grammar or spelling errors from the clipping.  Any injected errors during the transcription are my fault.
