Carole Ann Rider (1947-2009)

Carol Ann Lester died at her home comforted by her husband of 40 years in Gainesville, Georgia, Thursday morning, June 18, 2009, following a short battle with cancer. She was born Carole Ann Rider in Clermont, Georgia, June 2, 1947. She is survived by her husband, Joe Preston Lester, Jr.; brother, Glenn Rider and wife Mildred Rider; son, Dr. Joe Preston Lester, III and wife, Dr. Tiffany Robertson Lester; daughter, Suzanne Lester Drasutis and husband, Harry Anthony Drasutis; nephews and niece, Charles and Pam Rider; and three grandchildren, Caroline, Preston and Callie Anne.

Carole Ann lived her adult life in Gainesville, Georgia. She received her B.S.N. from Hall County School of Nursing and later her M.S. in psychology from the University of Georgia. Most of her career was affiliated with Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she served in various capacities from head nurse, instructor of nursing with Brenau University, to computer system designer.

Notwithstanding her significant contributions to the medical center, Carole Ann spent most of her energy and time as a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “CeeCee” and best mother in the world by her children.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Little & Davenport, 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Smiley will officiate. Interment will be in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
