Anthony F. ''Tony'' DiLetto,84, died May 31, 2002.   A native of New York City, he was a son of the late Joseph and Vincenca DiLetto and was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Lester DiLetto, in 1983. Total dedication to God, country and family sums up the essence of Tony DiLetto. He never deviated from a path of life that included only the highest ethical and moral standards. He demonstrated his dedication to God by living the word of God every day, no exceptions. His actions reflected his belief and commitment. So his words were never necessary.

He demonstrated his dedication to country by his service during World War II and then tirelessly working for numerous veterans' organizations after his honorable discharge. Tony was the commander of American Legion Post 20 in Athens on numerous occasions, as well as American Legion Post 29 in Marietta during his residence in Marietta, Ga. His concern for veteran's affairs is reflected in his efforts and eventual successful construction of the veteran's memorial plaza in Athens. Many veterans have benefited from Tony's efforts to enhance their existence. He thought of it as an extension of his duty to country. In his mind there was no other way.

He demonstrated his dedication to family by always providing an example of the way life should be led and the importance of family. ''If you perform only at the highest ethical and moral standards then everything will work out no matter what the circumstances,'' was the creed he chose for life and the pathway he provided from his family. He always provided kind and considerate leadership in everything he did.

God has a strong and faithful soldier in his army. The world will miss him dearly.
